Congratulations to WCA board member Ray Courtney who has been appointed by the township board of commissioners to serve out the unexpired term of Comm. Cheryl Gelber.
Ray was appointed on February 27th following Comm. Gelber’s resignation for health reasons. He will serve the balance of her term which expires in January of 2020.
In unanimously requesting the board of commissioners to appoint Ray to the position, the WCA noted that:
“Ray has been active in the Lower Merion community since moving here with his family and he has been a valued, contributing member of our association and a member of our board for the past two years. We are deeply grateful to Commissioner Gelber for her 15 years of outstanding service to our community and we believe that, if appointed, Ray Courtney will carry on in that fine tradition.”
Ray is a member of the founding team at CIONIC, a company building precision bionics for people with mobility impairments. Prior to joining CIONIC, Ray has worked in the software industry for almost 20 years at Oracle, Google, and Jawbone building high performance engineering teams that develop highly scalable internet applications. He has also served on the Technical Advisory Board for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) and as a volunteer for his local chapters of the CCFA.
He is a 2001graduate of Harvard University from which he holds with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. He lives in Wynnewood with his wife, Christyn, and their two children, Jonathan and Caroline.
