The Zoning Hearing Board meeting originally scheduled for tomorrow evening, Thursday, July 26, 2012 has just been postponed until Monday, August 20, 2012 at 7:15pm. Please mark your calendars — we need a big turnout at the meeting to persuade LA Fitness that its plan to operate its facility 24/7 is misguided in a quiet residential neighborhood like ours and in a purely suburban shopping center like the Wynnewood Shopping Center.

Here’s an update on what the WCA is doing to respond to LA Fitness.  First, we’ve partnered with our sister civic association, Shortridge, and we’ve hired a former chairman of Lower Merion’s Zoning Hearing Board, Ken Aaron, to represent both civic associations in this effort. Mr. Aaron is a very well respected attorney who is very well versed in zoning law.

Next, we are raising money to help replenish our Land Use and Zoning Fund for this effort and for the WP Realty development along Wynnewood Road for which plans have now been completed.  All donations of any size will be very gladly welcomed.

It’s summer, many people are on vacation, and we have no meeting scheduled until September.  That said, there are many land use issues that directly affect our neighborhood which are now on the front burner. If there is interest among board members/neighbors who’d like an update on what’s happening, I’ll schedule a quick meeting for next week. Thanks.

Hope everyone is doing well in the heat.
