WYNNEWOOD CIVIC ASSOCIATION – We didn’t just accept the plan, we got it changed!
When the Wynnewood Civic Association identified the danger of cross traffic into the bank driveway from the dedicated turn lane on East Wynnewood Road, volunteers sprang into action. They turned out and kept at it until the plan changed.
Before · As originally proposed:

After · Revised plan after neighbors spoke up!

- Protected access — one controlled way in and out, using the existing intersection.
- Zero impediment — no driveway onto East Wynnewood Road. Traffic keeps moving.
- Optimized site design — lawn, landscape beds, shade trees, walkways and art.
Nobody here is a traffic engineer — we’re just neighbors, volunteering and working together!
For 90 years the Wynnewood Civic Association has been made up of neighbors turning up in person — at meetings, at hearings, on each other’s porches — and asking the questions that make our area better. Nobody is paid. It runs on people who live here.
How neighbors changed the Chase plan:
- We watched for the meeting, showed up, and read the plans together. Neighbors sat down with the drawings and worked out what they would mean for our streets.
- We turned up in person. At Township meetings and hearings — in the room, month after month.
- We kept talking. With Lower Merion Township and with Chase, until it worked for the people who live here.
We are not planners or traffic engineers. We are neighbors. We read the plans, we showed up in person, and we kept asking questions until the design worked for the people who actually live here.
