FYI: Call to Action
A Lower Merion couple has built onto their Historic Class 2 manor house without Historic Commission review and without applying for any building permits. They are over 3,000 square feet over the lot’s allotted impervious surface (6% above) and are fighting to keep all of their illegal building. They have undertaken multiple building projects, all without permits, over the past number of years. The Township seems to be having trouble dealing with the magnitude of this offense; and, there is a chance, through legal maneuverings, that they will be allowed to keep all of their illegal building.
If you have had problems getting a plan approved, had a permit denied, paid extra to meet permit requirements, gotten reassessed due to a construction project, or have been required to stay within your impervious surface requirements, please consider calling or emailing your Ward Commissioner and Bob Duncan, Assistant Township Manager (RDuncan@lowermerion.org or 610-645-6200) to voice your frustration with following the law while some people do not!
Tell them that NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO CIRCUMVENT THE PERMIT PROCESS AND, THROUGH LEGAL MANEUVERINGS, BE ALLOWED TO KEEP THEIR ILLEGAL BUILDING PROJECTS.
